Garmin – известный производитель gps-навигаторов. Основателями компании в 1989 году являются инженеры Гари Баррелл и Мин Као, из частей имён которых и состоит название. В партнерстве с Asustek с 2009 года компания выпускала под брендом Garmin-Asus линейку смартфонов nuvifone.
В нашем обзоре A50 – 2-ой из 6 выпущенных этим тандемом. Для навигации используются Garmin и Google Locator. Одна из фишек – запись собственных голосовых подсказок для Garmin (как у Шелдона Купера из “Теории большого взрыва” 🙂 )
Телефон до сих пор поддерживается программой Garmin Express – можно обновить языковые и голосовые пакеты, а вот последняя карта тут датирована далеким 2012 годом.
Субъективно мне не понравилась навигация Garmin на этом устройстве – на отрезке менее километра программа заблудилась 3 раза (причем современный Google Maps ведет хорошо).
Годы берут свое, но между тем телефон как экспонат в музее займет свое место 🙂

Garmin is a well-known manufacturer of GPS navigators. The founders of the company in 1989 are engineers Gary Barrell and Min Kao, from whose name parts the name consists.
In partnership with Asustek since 2009 the company has launched the nuvifone line of smartphones under the Garmin-Asus brand. In our review, the A50 is the 2nd of 6 phones released by this tandem. Garmin and Google Locator are used for navigation. One of the tricks is recording your own voice prompts for Garmin (like Sheldon Cooper from ‘The Big Bang Theory; 🙂 )
The phone is still supported by the Garmin Express program – you can update language and voice packs, but the last card here dates back to the distant 2012. Subjectively, I didn’t like the Garmin navigation on this device – for less than a kilometer the program got lost 3 times (and modern Google Maps does well).
Years take their toll, but meanwhile the phone as an exhibit in the museum will take its place 🙂
